GOD IS LOVE
I was thinking about God's love today as I woke up and meditating this Sunday Morning. I know that God is Love as written in John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I am happy because God is Love, and His love is very different from human love. God's love is unconditional, and it's not based on feelings or emotions. He doesn't love us because we're lovable or because we make Him feel good; He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and He sacrificed His own Son to restore that relationship. Wow In other words God's love stands outside of our understanding thus it exists without any external definition.
I was trying to visualize why our love is not only conditional, but also mercurial. We love based on feelings and emotions that can change from one moment to the next.
I was so happy when I realized that our parents have close to unconditional love to us (children) with the help of God's love in our lives. Our parents continue to love us as children through good times and bad, and they don't stop loving us even if we don't meet our parent’s expectations they still love us. This is similar to God's love for us, but as we shall see, God's love transcends the human definition of love to a point that is hard for us to comprehend.
One of the greatest mistakes that we make is that we measure God's love for us by our present circumstances. We reason that if things are going bad for us, then God must really hate us. But if the birds are singing and the sun is shining, and we are happy, then God must really love us. We also usually assume that God works only through the successes we have, and not through our weaknesses. The truth is that our circumstances are constantly changing but God's love is always with us. His love for you does not ride the waves of our feelings. We also bring many unwanted circumstances on ourselves, and because of pride and sinfulness, we are the ones usually responsible for many of those terrible problems that we often find ourselves in.
