DGC CHOIR - UMECHOKA

Why We Worry? Is worry a wakeup call, towards our life?

Woo It is amazing how some people who suffer a lot worry very little, while others who suffer little worry a lot. The question which I am asking myself is why (we) human beings are affiliated with fear? The general answer which comes first in my mind “may be”: Humans are often afflicted with thoughts about things that have no answers. We fear the future, the unknown. We worry about what will happen to us, our family, our business, our money, our possessions, despite the knowledge we have still we live in the world which is inherently with unpredictable environments.

I positively agreed that worrying about something does not change the event or item that we are trying to avoid. In fact, we are sending negative attention to a situation over and over again, and thus potentially attracting it into our life. In other words we just worry about things that we can’t control? Thus Worrying is harmful; it doesn’t make a problem go away. In fact, it often makes the problem worse. The truth is that worry is unhelpful. It doesn’t work. It can’t change the past. It can’t control the future. It only makes us miserable it never solves the problem.

Worrying can damage our health; Worrying can disrupt our spiritual productivity. Worrying affects the way we treat others. When we worry a lot, we tend to be harsher towards our family, friends, and co-workers. (Phil 4:6-7) "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

When worries consume our thoughts, we tend to focus only on those worries. By doing this, we tend to leave our humbleness towards The Almighty God and His will out of our lives by finding little time for prayer. The humble man does not think all the time about himself and his interests. He does not make excuses for himself all the time. When we are really humble, we do not need to worry. We trust God with everything, now and in the future. We learn to do what Paul did. He allowed God to look after him. Hebrews 10:30: ‘I am the one who will punish’, says the Lord.

Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” while 1 Peter 5:7 advises us that, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you”

So, to get back to worry and self-talk, when you are worried about something, you are having distressing conversations with yourself about things you imagine might happen or be happening outside your observation. Because you are literally worried about nothing -- these events are in your mind, not in your real, physical environment -- there is nothing you can do about the objects of your worry. You are stuck. You are helpless. You can't do anything about nothing.

My today’s massage is that, worry is unnecessary. God has promised to take care of us if we’ll trust him with the details of our life. As a child, asks his/her father for lunch money he/she never worried about where it would come from. As Matthew 6:32 says ““But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them, and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to” Therefore God will take care of us just if we have faith and trust God with every area of your life:

Therefore let us replace worry with prayer; let keep our eyes focused

On God, who has a wonderful plan for our lives, and never lose faith and

discredit our Father with our worries. Amin
