Jesus is the object of our faith. He is truly worthy of our trust. By
placing our faith in Christ, we received not only the blessings He has planned
for us, but His very life. Paul tells us, "It is through faith that a
righteous person has a life." (Galatians 3:11)
Faith is not just a mental assent to a set of facts. In
the case of saving faith this is certainly true – saving faith must have an
object. We all believe in something, and as demonstrated, what we believe works
its way out in how we behave.
The human tendency is to have faith in what is seen, and to easily believe
in the power of something tangible instead of intangible. As we walk by
faith, we believe in Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. We do
not put our faith in objects and things we use as points of contacts. We
know they, in themselves, contain no power. The power, the honor and the
glory belong to Jesus, the Christ, our Lord and Savior.
"Faith is being sure of what we hope for and
certain of what we do not see."
Luke’s account of “Jesus Stills the Storm” phrases the question Jesus
asks His disciples differently than Mark’s Gospel. Luke quotes Jesus as
asking: ”Where is your faith?” “to
see that the critical factor in their faith is not its strength, but its
object.”
The true faith of
the child of God IS Christ
Jesus, He IS the
object of our faith
“That’s because it’s not the
quality of your faith that saves you, it’s the object of your faith. It
doesn’t matter how you feel about the branch; all that matters is the
branch. And Jesus is the branch.”
Isaiah 40:31 - But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and
not be
“I am the bread of life. He who comes to
Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. – John
6:35
Therefore Faith without works is dead. I
submit to you that Faith without the work directed by God the Father, by the
Holy Spirit, through Christ Jesus is dead.
