EASTER 2011

HAPPY EASTER               2011

According to old testament the celebration of Easter is in remembrance of the time in Israel’s history when the angel of the Lord moved through Egypt destroying the firstborn of all people and animals; Exodus 11 and 12.

As Moses reminded to the people of Israel, “Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten Exodus 13:3”.

Today the Easter is a wonderful picture of Christ’s atonement for His people and His deliverance of us from the bondage of sin. Can we live in accordance with our values of justice and integrity and to shed light on situations where there are violations of human rights?

·        First we are reminded that every sin is a failure and every moment of sin is a moment to love more.

·        Second Sometimes pride causes us to sin.  We feel confident that we can handle certain situations.  Pride can even blind us from the memory of past experiences and we fall in the same hole over and over again.

·        Third Perfect people do not exist.  God always chooses the weak in order to bring about great tasks.  People who recognize their weaknesses, sinfulness and limitations are humble.
·        Fourth we need to be kind to each other, affirm and encourage one another, serve and forgive one another.

·        Six in most cases it is true that every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.  Many of the greatest saints were at one time great sinners were able to turn their lives around and love even more. Eg St Paul

Easter reminds us that our own personal sin is never the end of the story.  Every day God gives us a blank piece of paper to write the history of a new day. When you can truly love, you will never fear failure and sin, because failure and sin become opportunities to love even more intensely.

As Mathew said that “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11, 28-30).

Through this Easter Jesus is still teaching us that Humans are not God but we have the power of choice to enslave or to liberate ourselves from the bondage of sins. And if the meaning of Easter is spiritual redemption and rebirth, then let us be reborn to stop prejudice, by promoting tolerance and encourage everyone to value the differences among us and  eradicate the evil that surrounds us in face of corruption, bad governing and  human suffering due to own Selfishness

Happy Easter and God bless us
