ROYAL WEDDING AND SIMPLE KATE

Prince William Weds Longtime AND Sweetheart Ms. Kate Middleton

Corinthians 13:4-8: "4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails.

Colossians 3:12-17: "12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

EASTER 2011

HAPPY EASTER               2011

According to old testament the celebration of Easter is in remembrance of the time in Israel’s history when the angel of the Lord moved through Egypt destroying the firstborn of all people and animals; Exodus 11 and 12.

As Moses reminded to the people of Israel, “Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten Exodus 13:3”.

Today the Easter is a wonderful picture of Christ’s atonement for His people and His deliverance of us from the bondage of sin. Can we live in accordance with our values of justice and integrity and to shed light on situations where there are violations of human rights?

·        First we are reminded that every sin is a failure and every moment of sin is a moment to love more.

·        Second Sometimes pride causes us to sin.  We feel confident that we can handle certain situations.  Pride can even blind us from the memory of past experiences and we fall in the same hole over and over again.

·        Third Perfect people do not exist.  God always chooses the weak in order to bring about great tasks.  People who recognize their weaknesses, sinfulness and limitations are humble.
·        Fourth we need to be kind to each other, affirm and encourage one another, serve and forgive one another.

·        Six in most cases it is true that every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.  Many of the greatest saints were at one time great sinners were able to turn their lives around and love even more. Eg St Paul

Easter reminds us that our own personal sin is never the end of the story.  Every day God gives us a blank piece of paper to write the history of a new day. When you can truly love, you will never fear failure and sin, because failure and sin become opportunities to love even more intensely.

As Mathew said that “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11, 28-30).

Through this Easter Jesus is still teaching us that Humans are not God but we have the power of choice to enslave or to liberate ourselves from the bondage of sins. And if the meaning of Easter is spiritual redemption and rebirth, then let us be reborn to stop prejudice, by promoting tolerance and encourage everyone to value the differences among us and  eradicate the evil that surrounds us in face of corruption, bad governing and  human suffering due to own Selfishness

Happy Easter and God bless us

SUNDAY MESSAGE: HOW WE CAN AVOID THE PHRASE “I NEVER KNEW YOU”

                                                SERMON ON THE MOUNT

A. Thinking in two directions.

-As it is, or interpreting it
-The gospel can help answer questions
B. The disciples are being called to the deeper faithfulness of the heart.
              C. Welcoming the letter of the law.
              D. He wants us, not what we have.
              E. The words, “I NEVER KNEW YOU”!!
F.  Jesus is calling his disciples to a personal relationship   with God.
              G. Questions???

Here we learn of the Sermon on the Mount.  Thinking in two directions; first the key to understanding the entire sermon of the mount. What it meant.

And second, how we interpret it. Do we take it word for word that we have to be as perfect as it says, or do we have to do our best to stay in track of what we are supposed to do? I read a book that asks this question “is anyone as perfect as God?” A statement that fits very well in this matter. So how we interpret the Sermon of the Mount should be in such a way that can be legalistic. Jesus is calling his disciples to a personal relationship with God. What true relationships are made of. True relationships are not made of based on what you have, or what you can do, or the things we do because one day, all of those things will be lost and once those things are gone, so is your relationship.

Jesus caution us not to build our relationship with God that easy or with things we have or what we do, Because once they are gone, our relationship with God is gone too.  He wants us not what we have. He does not care if we are rich or poor but the faith in him, our love for him and how we really mean it is what he cares about.  The relationship based on who we are will last forever.

My application to this is as follows. Some of the questions asked were: How can I open myself to know God personally? I might have been far away from God for a while now but as I start staying in a group of people in bible study, deeper, youth group I find God as this person that I want to know fully. But how do I start? Where do I begin with? Will he listen to me or am I still a sinner in front of his eyes? Such questions may come up but I know if I just believe in him and open up, he is going to take me in.

How can I escape the words “I NEVER KNEW YOU”?? These words are so harsh to hear and mostly from God himself, it’s the total rejection that maybe you have been doing it to others all the time but how do you escape it. That’s the question we are left with; it’s up to us to find a way to escape that statement!!!

WHY BIBLE COMMANDS US TO LOVE OUR NIEGHBOURS

             HOW TO TREAT YOUR NIEGHBOURS.

A.  From the reading of Leviticus (19- 18)
-Reminds us that God is completely holy
-He is complete.
-He challenges us on how to love our neighbors or not
-It should not be with violence.

B.  From the reading of Paul (Ephesians 2: 19 -22)
-We are the temple of God
-His spirit dwells in each one of us
-Paul wants us to recognize the value that Christ has added into our human beingness
- To love and respect all God’s creation is what we should do

C.  From the Gospel of Mathew (5: 17 -19)
-Jesus did not come to destroy the law, he cane to fulfill it
-To demonstrate by his life how he is living the life as supposed to
-Offer no resistance to the one who has evil in them
-Love your enemies, pray for those who prosecute you.

D. As believers of Jesus, we ought to go beyond the law, to the level of perfection.

In Leviticus, Jesus reminds us that God is completely holy, that he is complete. He challenges us on how to live with our neighbors. He says love your neighbor as much as you love me. It should not be with violence. We should treat our neighbors how we would like to be treated by others. Paul says we are the temple of God. His spirit dwells in each one of us. In an assembly of people there is always the presence of God. Paul wants us to recognize the value that Christ has added into our human beingness. To love and respect all God’s creation is what we should do because we are all his children.  In Gospel of Mathew Jesus says, he has not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it. He is the law and he coming to earth is the fulfillment of it. He offers no resistance to the one who have evil in them. He sits with prostitutes, tax collectors, sinners and he does not reject the ones who are sinful. He came for them. He came to change the sinful so as they can also see the kingdom of heaven. He says “I have come not to call the righteousness but sinners to repentance”.  Jesus says, “Love your enemies, pray for those who prosecute you for the sake of righteousness because they will see the kingdom of heaven”.  Lastly as believers of Jesus, we ought to go beyond the law to the level of perfection.

This teaching teaches me how to live with people how to treat my neighbors. My neighbors are not only the people who live near me but everyone who is around me regardless what they look like, what they do or anything. I may not be as perfect as God would like me to be but I can help the people around with what I have, I can treat them well just like how I would like to be treated. I can apply this simply by starting helping my friends indeed of anything that is what Jesus meant. And as it goes my experience will be growing too.
